The purpose of the "Lower Costs, More Transparency Act" is to increase the transparency of the healthcare sector and regulate the costs of medications and services for patients.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), was introduced in the House of Representatives on Sept. 8, and passed on a bipartisan basis with 320-71 votes on Dec. 11.
